Art is a route toward answering questions or, at the very least, posing them. Every engagement with mediums leads to the possibility of discovery on multiple levels. One's viewpoint changes one's perspective, whether making or receiving the artistic statement. I often say, "I paint to see, not what I see", and that embodies the ultimate goal of enlightenment.
